Arrival and overnight stay
It is worth planning your journey and your overnight stay well in advance because the city of Omaha is packed at the weekend around the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Meeting 2020. You can find good accommodation at a fair price on Airbnb, but be sure to get a good rating (over 4.5 stars) and read guests’ comments. We had problems here and had to rebook – which unfortunately is very expensive. There are also numerous hotels and motels in Omaha, some of which have only recently opened. One of the neighbouring cities Council Bluffs, which is located in Iowa, can probably also find cheap hotels.
If you bring some time and don’t have to return on Sunday, you’ll also find affordable flights to and from Omaha. We compensate the CO² emissions of the flights by a donation, e.g. to Atmosfair. Alternatively you can travel by car, train or bus from Denver or Chigago. On the spot we got along well without a car, because you have a good offer by ride sharing platforms, like Uber and Lyft. Even on the morning of the Berkshire Hathaway Annual General Meeting 2020 we got a car relatively fast.
Of course you can also book a car that costs about $30 a day. To make parking easy, you can use the ParkOmaha (iOs | Android) app. Near the city centre, there is also free parking at the bridge at the Durham Museum.
